Georeferenced drone images and 3D landscapes

Requirements

To take advantage of the following premium features, you must use optimized GeoTIFF images provided by our partner AirClip.

Orthophotos and 3D Models

HeavyGoods allows you to simulate transports on high resolution, true-to-scale orthophotos. Once uploaded by the user, they are automatically superimposed on Google Maps aerial imagery and scaled correctly. The high resolution (up to 5cm) allows you to plan your transports accurately.

When inspecting a narrow route section in HeavyGoods, you can directly open an associated 3D landscape model with a single click. You can then inspect the model in an interactive 3D viewer and measure details of the route section including obstacle dimensions and areas.

Airclip Drone Service

To use these features, sign up with AirClip using this form: https://tally.so/r/nGbzrj

Then fly your drone (no LIDAR required), upload the raw drone images to heavygoods.airclip.de and Airclip will optimize them and calculate a 3D model for you. You will be invoiced by Airclip based on the size of the area.

If desired, you can also generate 3D models for the crane planning softwares CRANEbee and Liebherr Crane Planner.

For details on how to fly your drone and how to use the service, see the instructions at heavygoods.airclip.de.

If you need further assistance, please contact our partner Airclip directly at: heavygoods@airclip.de

Upload

Once Airclip has processed your data, select the 10cm or 5cm resolution GeoTIFF and upload it to HeavyGoods.

You have two options:

  1. Go to Management - Transports and select a transport. Then drag and drop your GeoTIFF. A new route section will automatically be created at the correct geolocation.

  2. You can also enrich an existing route section. To do this, open a route section of a transport (click on the corresponding red marker on the map). Then drag and drop the GeoTIFF onto this route section or click on the image icongrafik.pngto upload the GeoTIFF using the file selector.

The orthophoto is then automatically scaled and positioned by HeavyGoods. The orthophoto will appear as an overlay on the correspondig Google Maps aerial image.

Open the 3D model

Open the route section in HeavyGoods. Then click on the image icon in the vertical toolbar: grafik.png

Finally click on the AirClip logo on the right to open the interactive 3D landscape model. You can then view the model in an interactive 3D viewer and measure details of the route section including obstacle dimensions and areas.

You can also share the 3D model with partners in order to collaborate on your transport panning project.
