3D street scenes and precise drone images

Measure bottlenecks in 3D from your desk

Examine your transport route from all angles in HeavyGoods' interactive 3D viewer. Use the integrated 3D measuring tools to conveniently measure obstacles and areas digitally in the 3D landscape model.

Example: Interactive 3D model

Tip: You can rotate, zoom and measure the model in 3D using your mouse.

Professional planning with precise orthophotos

With HeavyGoods, you can simulate swept paths on true-to-scale orthophotos. The high resolution (up to 5 cm) enables you to plan your transports accurately. The uploaded drone images are automatically geopositioned in Google Maps and correctly scaled.

How it works: Using drone scenes in HeavyGoods

Obtain the GeoTiff file from AirClip

  1. Once AirClip has processed your data, it will provide a zip file that you can download.

  2. Unzip this archive. This can usually be done by double-clicking on the zip file.

  3. You will then receive two files with file names ending in .tif. These are special GeoTiff files optimized for HeavyGoods – each with a resolution of 10 cm and 5 cm.

  4. Select the GeoTIFF file with the resolution you require and upload it to HeavyGoods.

Uploading the GeoTIFF file to HeavyGoods

  1. Go to Administration - Transports and select a transport. Then drag and drop your GeoTIFF file created by AirClip (see previous chapter) onto the map. A new route section will automatically be created at the correct geolocation.

  2. You can also enrich an existing route section. To do this, open the route section of a transport (click on the corresponding orange marker on the map). Then drag and drop the GeoTIFF onto the Google map or click on the image icongrafik.pngto upload the GeoTIFF via the file selection.

The orthophoto is then automatically scaled and positioned by HeavyGoods. The orthophoto appears as an overlay on the corresponding Google Maps aerial image.

Open the 3D model of your route section in HeavyGoods

  1. Open the route section in HeavyGoods. Then click on the image icon in the vertical toolbar: grafik.png(see arrow 1 in the screenshot)

  2. Finally, click on the AirClip logo on the right-hand side to open the interactive 3D landscape model (see arrow 2 in the screenshot).

  3. You can then view the model in an interactive 3D viewer and measure details of the route section, including the dimensions of obstacles and areas.

  4. You can also share the link to the 3D model with partners to collaborate on your transport project.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to fly the drone myself?

As a HeavyGoods user, you generally fly your route sections yourself. Our partner AirClip supports you with your first flights with your drone and also offers drone pilot licenses.

Some customers use external service providers who fly bottlenecks on behalf of the customer:

The providers listed above are not recommendations, and we do not have any business relationship with them.

What type of drone do I need?

The integration of HeavyGoods and AirClip described above is currently offered for certain drones from the manufacturer DJI. Your drone does not need LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology.

Depending on the intended use, our partner AirClip recommends the following DJI drone models:

  • DJI Mini 5 Pro

  • DJI Mavic 3E C1 version

  • DJI Matrice 4E

AirClip optimizes the raw drone images you upload and calculates a 3D model for you. Airclip charges you for this based on the size of the area (€85 per hectare; as of January 2026).

You receive a €50 starting credit for the first 3D model.
(non-binding offer from AirClip)

Can I also use the 3D models to carry out crane planning?

On request, AirClip can also create 3D models for the crane planning software CRANEbee and Liebherr Crane Planner. Please contact heavygoods@airclip.de for more information.
