Create a vehicle combination

Combine individual vehicles and load a cargo onto them

Let's say, you want to run a transport as shown below:

The image shows a vehicle combination consisting of several individual vehicles. In our example, the red cargo is carried by a green truck, a yellow dolly and a blue follower.

To create such a vehicle combination, we follow these steps:

  1. Add the three individual vehicles to our digital vehicle fleet,

  2. Add the individual cargo to our list of cargos,

  3. Put the vehicle combination together and load the cargo onto it.

1. Create your vehicles

Let's say, you want to add the yellow dolly to your vehicle fleet. You have three options to do so:

  • The quickest way to do so, is to use one of our ready-made example vehicles. If required, you can easily modify any template vehicle as required.
For details see: Configure your own vehicles

  • If you are a transport company and own the specific vehicle for that job, you can also ask your vehicle manufacturer to provide a digital record for that specific vehicle.
For details see: Get digital vehicles from a manufacturer

  • If you have vehicle modules in your yard, such as individual drawbars, goosenecks, bridges and axle lines, you can also quickly assemble a new vehicle by combining modules using our build kit.
For details see: Assemble modular vehicles using the build kit

2. Create your cargo

Either use a ready-made cargo from our cargo library or create your own cargo.
For details see: Add a cargo to your list of cargos

3. Put the vehicle combination together

Now that we have the individual vehicles and the cargo, we can easily create a vehicle combination. To do so, open either the axle load calculation (Management - Axle loads) or a swept path simulation (Management - Transports Map - Create a transport - Add a route section). HeavyGoods asks you to choose your cargo and your individual vehicles. HeavyGoods displays the vehicle combination and you can move the cargo to the desired location. HeavyGoods also offers an integrated video tutorial, which assists you in creating your first vehicle combination.

That's how the vehicle combination finally looks like in HeavyGoods:

4. Save your vehicle combination as a template

If you want to re-user your vehicle combination, e.g. at other route sections, save it as a template: Reuse vehicle combinations
